She began to dissolve from my vision, like the tattoo from my arm. Everything turned blurry, like seen through a mirage in a hot desert. I spun back to the wall and felt sick to my stomach. My head was spinning; I lost my balance and fell to the ground.
I woke sometime later in familiar surroundings — I’d been here before. The nurse told me the police picked me up in an alley. This wasn’t the first time I’d been strung out and lost touch with reality.
Later that day my father showed up. I expected another lecture, but instead he kindly asked me, “Have I gone and left you here alone?”
As the tears welled up in my eyes, I replied, “Have I run to far to get home?”
“No”, he said, covering my hand in his.
"Can we start over?", he asked.
“If I would, could you?”

Instead of running like I have always done, I decided to stay. I then turned around and looked at her ” why aren’t you running”? she asked me with a demonic scream. I replied, “isn’t that what you have always wanted”. As I got closer to her the mansion behind her went up in flames, and she screamed “NOoooo”. She raised the gun a foot away from my face, and told me ” this is your final decision” and before she could pull the trigger she goes up in flames like the mansion did behind her. Everything suddenly vanishes leaving me at the end of a cliff wondering what this all meant. The number 9687 held the the answer to all of this, but the burden is too much to bare. Where you will go is all in your decision.
I ran as fast as humanly possible. The cops moved in closer as the evil woman screamed in terror. They asked her what happened; she tells them a story laced with deceit. The cops approached me with their guns lifted. Their shouts of “freeze” echoed throughout the courtyard. I pretended to cooperate with the cops as they moved within 30 feet of me. The woman looked at me with her black eyes. She was smiling. I knew a decision had to be made. I charged at her with everything left inside. But, before I could get to her the cops fired 3 shots to take me down. I now regret ever taking that card in the first place. Temptation drove me here. An ambulance will drive me out. Will you follow the same path? It’s your decision.
I realized at that moment ,the taste of sweet freedom became bittersweet. To have this beast if you will basically challenge me as a man. Here I am standing outside this house , as she toys with me. Telling me I would take the fall to the horrors that lie within…I couldn’t let that happen. Against my better judgement. After choking on some of my own vomit…I am going back in..Someone has to tell the truth to what evil lies in this house of hell. As I started to walk closer back to the house I felt pain..a burning pain..as if someone lit my skin on fire..I still moved forward. As I climbed the stairs, My skin seemed to smoke ,blister, she had control . The pain was like no other I felt in my life.
As I looked over the wall into the face of the officer I knew it was over. “Sorry officer, it was a false alarm” I said as my eye twitched with nervous energy. I let the police know that it had been an animal, a dog or possibly a bear, that had run past the window. “Why all the blood?” the officer said to me in a quizzical fashion. I explained that I was able to wound the animal with my last shot and was just cleaning up when they arrived. As he began to turn and walk back to his car I caught his eye and smeared ‘9687’ in blood on the wall. He stared at me in horror as she approached me from behind and whispered in my ear, “It’s your decision”…
Just then I was thrown to the ground by an incredible explosion. Debris rained down as a huge fireball painted the sky a bright orange. Everything faded to black as I lost consciousness…. “Hello? Can you hear me?” A distant voice echoed. I slowly opened my eyes. Everything slowly came into focus. “Where am I? What happened?” I groggily moaned. I scanned my surroundings. I was in a hospital bed. A very attractive nurse stood over me. She looked… familiar. “Wonderful. We weren’t sure you were going to wake up, umm Mr… Can you tell us your name? You were brought in with no identification.” “I…I don’t remember.” My skull was pounding. “Do I know you?” I asked. She slowly looked me up and down. “I don’t think so.” she said with a grin that sent a chill down my spine. “I never forget a face.”
My addled mind couldn’t comprehend the situation, nor gain enough focus to make a sound decision. Fight or flight? My brain chose the latter. As I hurried back through the mansion, the agonising torments of the incident plagued my memory, like a perpetual drug hallucination gone nightmarish… it was as if my life were flashing before my eyes. My consciousness was lapsing; before I knew it, I was strapped and seated before a jarringly familiar psychologist and two armed cops in a dingy, frigid room. “This one’s clearly not mentally fit for society,” he declared, sporting a sadistically proud grin. After scribbling a few words, he grabbed an ink-stamp and drove it into my wrist. I’m sure I recognise this situation… I looked down and saw ‘9687’. Lord no. A bald man in white wheeled me out. “Survivor 9688 please,” boomed the intercom. “Another fresh one - exquisite,” the ‘psychologist’ grinned.
